3. Guest of Honour

Chloe Richardson

Grabbing my clutch, I stepped out of the car.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. It was such a big event and it was being held at a massive party hall. I kept my head high and walked inside with confidence radiating off my body. It's a very bad thing if you let your nervousness show. You should always mask it.

As I entered inside, I saw people talking amongst themselves with branded clothes on and a glass of liquor in their hand. Women were dressed beautifully and the men were clad in expensive suits. I saw a familiar face amongst the sea of people and I walked towards her with a smile on my face.

"Hey, Rebekah." I greeted. Rebekah Wilson, is a fellow model and an old friend of mine. We've met before in some of our ramp walks and I hosted her and her boyfriend when they visited London during Christmas last year. She's just the sweetest.

"Oh my God, Chloe! It feels like forever since I last saw you." She said as she turned around and threw her arms around me in a hug.

"It does." I said and embraced her back.

We chatted for quiet good time and caught up on everything that we missed. I told her all about my 3 months contract and my 'engagement' with Joseph. She was sad because she wanted me to find someone I love too but then it's true that maybe I'll never find someone I genuinely love.

Shortly, music stopped playing in the background. The person standing on the stage said something that I didn't quite catch. Everyone clapped their hands so I and Rebekah joined the applause without thinking.

"And now, I'd like to welcome the organiser of the party and the guest of honour to the stage. Please give a big round of applause for Mr. Adam Stalin." The person with the mike said and once again people started clapping. Louder this time.

I saw girls around me fixing their dresses in order to show more cleavage and leg. They ruffled their hairs with their fingers and applied a coat of lipgloss to their lips in order to make them more attractive.

I was confused as to why were they acting like this. So what if the guest of honour is invited onto the stage. Why do they even want to impress someone who probably would be in his 50s with a wife and children at home? I bet the man would even have wrinkles on his face. I could never understand these gold diggers. I mentally rolled my eyes and shook my head.

I turned my attention back to the stage and my jaw dropped at the sight of a man who was standing on the stage.

He appeared to be in his 20s. He had dark brown hair and striking forest green eyes. He was tall, approximately 6'8. He was wearing an expensive suit but not like the ones other men present in the hall were wearing. His looked like it was tailor-made for him. He was well built and his aura was powerful. He walked with such style, as if he's the royalty. And you know what, the way the man appeared, he might just be.

The person with the mike, shared a hand shake with him and it was then that I realise that he is the guest of honour. He is Adam Stalin.

Now I understand why all the ladies in the room were behaving the way they were. The man is gorgeous. So beyond beautiful, I don't believe my eyes.

"This is our newest model for the upcoming campaign, Chloe Richardson." Mr. Miller, the head of my campaign, introduced me to Adam Stalin.

"Hello Mr. Stalin." I said and politely smiled at him.

"Call me Adam, Chloe." He said with a smudge smile. Weird. He didn't ask any of the other models to call him that.

I nodded my head and he smirked at me.

"So, you're from London, huh." Adam said and I nodded my head saying, "Yes."

"I was thinking of investing there. I wanna buy some clubs and restaurant there one day." Adam said and I furrowed my eyes.

"I didn't realise you own properties too apart from Fashion and the City." I said and Adam shook his head negative.

"My little brother, Adan handles Fashion and the City. Investment is all me." He said and I nodded my head in acceptance of the information.

"I was-" Adam's sentence got cut due to the ringing of my phone. It was my mom. She has been continuously calling me since last hour.

"I'm sorry. I really need to take this." I said and Adam nodded his head. I walked out of hall and picked up the phone.

"Yes, mom." I said in a slightly irritated voice.

"Chloe, I need you to come back home." Mom said in a serious voice.

"Why. What happened?" I asked but my mother couldn't hear anything properly due to the poor reception. I walked further into an empty alley. There was nobody here considering the late hours of night.

"I really didn't want to discuss this on mobile but I saw your father with an unknown woman in the garden today. He took a walk with her and went inside her house. He came out of it after 45 minutes. Chloe he's cheating on me. I'm considering a divorce." Mom said making my heartbeat stop for a moment.
