"Vyah sampan hua

"Vyah sampan hua." The Granthi present in the Gurudwara announced. He kept a hand on both their heads and blessed them to have a happy and fulfilling married life.

The marriage is official now.

Harleen and Ranbir signed on a paper which officially declared them as a married couple.

Both of them joined their hands and prayed for their future. This was far from what they had expected from their meeting but who has ever figured fate out. Maybe this is the reason they had crossed paths on that crossroad.

"Mubaraka jee, mubaraka." The sarpanch along with few of the villagers congratulated them. The couple had to appear to be in love with each other so Ranbir softly grabbed his now-wife's hand as the newly married couple thanked them.

Congratulations.

"Aapki gaadi humne theek karwa de hai." Sarpanch said as he handed his G-Wagon's keys back to him.

We have fixed your car.

"Bahot shukriya." Ranbir said as he accepted the car keys back.

Thank you so much.

"Aap kapde vagare badli kar lijye. Mai aapke liye khana bhijwata hu." The sarpanch offered. The couple didn't realise it but they were still in the previous night's clothing.

You guys change your clothes. In the meanwhile I'll send some food for you.

"Uski koi zaroorat nahi. Hum change karke niklenge bas." Ranbir said. He just wanted to go home as soon as possible.

There is no need for that. We'll change clothes and leave.

"Jaisa aap theek samjhe." The sarpanch replied.

Whatever you say.

Both of them walked back to the storage area again. Harleen changed her clothes as someone got her, her bag from the car. Meanwhile Ranbir went to a neighbouring house to change just his kurta.

As he was done, he went to the storage area and knocked on the door.

He saw his wife come out in a fresh pair of red kurti with creame dupatta and matching shalwar. She was wearing silver oxidised jhumkas and bangles but what stood out the most from her look was that her hair partition was now filled with vermilion.

Earrings

They didn't have any mangalsutra or chooda available so he couldn't make her wear them. Her beauty was enhanced with the vermilion and the matching red kurti that she was wearing. It wasn't anything fancy but to him, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid his eyes on.

Bangles.

"Kya hua?" She innocently asked him, breaking him out of his trance.

What happened?

"Kuch nahi. Khoobsurat lag rahi ho." He compliment her. She blushed as she looked away from his eyes shyly. His heart did a somersault at her smile.

Nothing. You're looking beautiful.

"Acha aise sharmao to mat, sohniyo." He said in his thick voice as he neared his face to hers. The innocence that this woman carries has his heart going into frenzy.

Okay now don't blush like that, sweetheart.

"Chalein?" He asked as he walked inside the room. He picked her packed bag from the cot and swinged it around his shoulder, just like he did last night.

Let's go?

To this she nodded at first but then said, "Rukiye."

Wait.

"Kya hua?" He asked in a concerned voice with furrowed eyebrows.

What happened?

"Woh.. apse kuch puchna tha, Randhawa Sahab." She asked meekly. He furrowed his eyebrows when she took his name so formally. He walked back to where he previously was standing, in front of her.

I, ahh.. wanted to ask you something Mr. Randhawa.

"Haa, Pucho." He replied.

Go ahead, ask.

"Umm.. aapka naam kya hai?" She asked hesitantly.

Umm.. what's your name?

Ranbir couldn't control the hearty laugh that escaped his mouth. He just realised that they are married now but still don't know each other's name. They hadn't asked each other this throughout the night or better yet, they didn't get a chance to.

"Ranbir naam hai mera. Ranbir Singh Randhawa." He said after a moment when his laughter died down.

My name is Ranbir. Ranbir Singh Randhawa.

"Aur aapka, Biwi?" He asked and her heart skipped a beat at the word he just used for her.

And yours, wifey?

A quote of blush covered her cheek as she realised she's his wife now. Until yesterday she was a just a tortured girl with a broke home and today she's someone's wife.

"Harleen Arora." She said and he let out a sound of disagreement. He corrected her as he lightly cupped her cheek before moving past her, out of the room.

"Harleen Randhawa."
